Abstract

The study is on entrepreneurial orientation and performance of SMEs in Bida metropolis of Niger State. Thus, the importance of entrepreneurial orientation is that, it makes managers/owners to take advantage of their competencies in order to translate their novel idea in winning the market competitiveness for excellent performances. The objective was to examine the relationship between entrepreneurial orientation and performance SMEs and a Sample size of 59 was determine using Krejcie and Morgan (1970) statistical table and online Roasoft sample size calculator. Hence, 59 questionnaires were administered to the managers / owners of registered SMEs in Modern market Bida at convenience sampling techniques for the analysis. Regression statistical tool of SPSS Version 22 was used to test the hypotheses and the result revealed that Entrepreneurial orientation; Proactiveness, Risk taking and Innovativeness have positive significant effect on the selected SMEs performance. Hence, the study recommends that SMEs managers/owners are encourage to remain focused on being proactive in taking advantage of sale revenue and business opportunities, calculative in risk taking for higher profit maximization and innovative to enhance its market value, Reputation and customers loyalty, for better performance.
